FREEWARE - Paint.Net

This excellent free Photoshop-look-alike lets you edit and manipulate photos, or create digital art. It supports layers, unlimited undo, special effects, and a wide variety of useful and powerful tools.
This is a good intermediate type photo editor. It does more than the basic photo editors in comparison to standard Paint, or even Irfanview, but it of course does not come close to programs such as Paint Shop Pro or PhotoImpact.
Tools are standarized and easy to recognize across other platforms, is small in size overall a pretty solid program.
The interface of this application is very well written, runs smooth and looks impressive. The functionality is still very basic; most advancement over Paint are just strange effects which are nice to watch once but in my opinion don't help much for seriously editing pictures. Others like adaptations according to a histogram are already nice to look at but lack configuration options (like defining a function that defines how the colour space should be transformed).
